Newborn Care Responsibilities/Duties
• Caring for all needs of the newborn, including, dressing, feeding, bathing, and
diapering of infants, swaddling and recording newborn daily activities.
• Educating and guiding parents on safe infant care techniques
• Assisting and encouraging sibling bonding; and skin to skin bonding time with
newborn and parents
• Nursery care and management (cleaning the nursery and keeping all furniture,
clothing, diapering items organized).
• Laundering and organizing baby’s clothing.
• Implementing gentle sleep training practices and sleep pattern organization.
• Setting nighttime sleep and daytime nap routines.
• Basic breastfeeding support for mothers and helping them learn different nursing
positions and techniques.
• Implementing feeding schedules and bottle feeding if necessary.
• Cleaning and sterilizing baby bottles, breast pump parts and all feeding items.
• Inventory management and alerting parents of items that need restocking.
• Experience with post circumcision and umbilical care.
• Keeping baby active, with age-appropriate stimulation activities on a play-mat,
